Her name is believed to mean loop or tie. She was a hardworking and generous young woman. A lot like her mother in law both in her satisfying appearance and in her 'helping' God fulfill the promise given to her sons. She was also barren for the first twenty years of her married life - something that Sarah knew very well. She came into the life of Isaac soon after he had lost her mother Sarah and she became a great comfort to Isaac. How Rebekah became Isaac's wife was both divine and beautiful in its working. Abraham sent his servant to find a wife for Isaac and he carried with him these words, "The Lord will send his angel ahead of you and He will see to it that you find a wife for my son" (Sidenote) - "He will send his angel ahead of you" and "He will see to it" are a highlight in this phrase. What a faith in God. What trust in the Almighty. The path of a good man is indeed ordered of the Lord. If God is in it, He will see to it. If God is in it, He will watch it to fulfillment. Rebekah met Abraham's servant at the well when she was fetching water. The servant asked her for water and some for his camels. A simple request yet hidden in it was a destiny changing blessing. A young woman’s future altered in a moment’s time. She didn't just say yes to Abraham's servant. She said yes to destiny, yes to purpose and yes to the promise. God is calling you to greatness. God is inviting you to play a vital role in the story of His Kingdom. The invite doesn't come fashioned in the way we imagine or expect. It comes hidden not from us but for us. May you say YES today. Yes to the promise of God over your life. May you say YES to destiny and YES to purpose. When Rebekah was pregnant she enquired of the Lord regarding her pregnancy. What are you pregnant with? Have you taken time to ask God for direction and perspective? What is the Lord saying? He promises us that when we seek Him we will find Him especially when we seek Him with our whole heart. “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you"
