Her name is believed to mean bitterness. She was sister to Moses and Aaron. We hear about her first when Moses was just a baby. She plays a pivotal role in Moses' life not just as her sister but a destiny partner in Moses' journey with the Lord. From a young age she is involved in Moses' life. She features here as a quick thinker. She is the one who stood at a distance when Moses' basket was placed in the river to see what would happen to him. She is also the same girl who nominated her mother as nursemaid to the daughter of Pharoah. Miriam grew up a clever girl with a great sense of responsibility. The surroundings and happenings of that time forced her to mature and take responsibility of her life. She saw the challenges that the children of Israel were going through at a tender age. She had to be a protecter to Moses. Later on we see her leading the women in praise after the Egyptians were buried in the Red Sea. She is called a prophetess then. What a role placed upon her. And she gracefully played her role. She didn't shy away from it because she was a woman. She embraced it with both hands and worked diligently. Dear Miriam, you have been called for such a time as this. Do not shy away and hide the gift of God on the inside of you. Let your light shine brightly for the world to see. Jealousy creeped on Miriam and her heart became bitter. Instead of standing with Moses and supporting him she fought him. She wasn't pleased that Moses was in the forefront and she was in the background. She felt she was dealt less than what she deserved. We ourselves are not immune to such. When we feel we don't deserve the little that's coming out way. We know we are the ones that are working hard behind the scenes but somehow the handshake and pat on the back goes to the one at the forefront. Lord help us in this area. Help us Lord not to hunger and crave for a glory that is yours. Help us Lord to know our place in your story and work diligently. Help us not to chase after the fame and the praises. They don't belong to us. They belong to you. Teach us to be content with what is on our plates. Teach us to honor those in authority over us. Teach us Lord 🙏
